| Careesa Travis | Member | cmtravis@sjaacsa.org Careesa Travis is the newest member of the African American Community Service Agency Board. Her family has been residents of San Jose, California since 1980. Careesa is a graduate of the University of Phoenix, San Jose, California with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Management and an Associates in Arts Degree from Merced Community College, Merced California. While employed with a major insurance company for 32 years in associate and upper management positions, she participated in fundraising and event planning for the March of Dimes, Walk America and Toys for Tots. After retiring she became a volunteer with the agency In August 2008 with the purpose of getting involved in community programs that would develop more awareness and create more programs to meet the needs of children, young adults, and senior adults the Santa Clara county. The emphasis should be placed on education and health care. She soon found that the agency's motto:"Strength in Unity" was purposeful in working with various organizations in this county in achieving those objectives. Her 20 years of experience in administration, quality control, financial accounting, negotiations, and management will be useful in project management and fundraising. Her knowledge, experience, resourcefulness, and abilities as a problem solver will beneficial to the agency and community. She takes her responsibilities seriously and plans to increase community involvement and funding that well achieve the desired outcome. |
