The AACSA announced today the election of Shawneequa Badger as President of the Board of Directors. Ms. Badger, who has been a Member of the Board since 2005, will replace Joanna Farris as President, effective immediately. "We are grateful to Joanna for providing the Agency with years of service as our President. As a fellow Board Member with Joanna, I am especially appreciative of her commitment to the African American Community Service Agency," stated Shawneequa. "As a long-serving Board member, Joanna's advice and progress has been instrumental to the Agency's sustained presence in our community." "Participating in the development of the Agency thus far has brought me great satisfaction, and I am excited by the prospect of continuing to work closely with the African American community and Agency in an expanded role," said Shawneequa Badger, President of the Board of Directors. Ms. Badger currently works as a RealtorŪ/Realtist at Century 21 Alpha in San Jose. She has an extensive background in Sales and Internet Marketing Communications. Selling real estate in the Bay Area is the culmination of a long successful career in marketing communications and administration. She is also a member of the local National Association of Real Estate Brokers (NAREB) chapter of the San Jose Association of Realtist. Everett Bobby Gasper - Mr. Gasper was elected to this position of Vice President of the Board of Directors of the Agency. He is CEO/VP of Information Technology of Information Network Development Group LLC (IND Group). He has been on numerous panels that address the relationship of technology in the business world as well as a number of speaking engagements with teenagers within the community. He is currently the Vice President of the San Jose Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc in which he was previously Treasurer. In addition to being a new Board Member for the Agency, Mr. Gasper is also the Co-Chairman of the Program and Economic Development Committees. Mr. Gasper holds a degree in Information Resource Management at San Jose State University Natisha Holloway - Ms. Holloway was elected as the Treasurer of the Board of Directors of the Agency. She works at Comcast Cable Communications, Inc. and is an active member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc, San Jose Alumnae Chapter. She is the past President of the San Jose State University Chapter of the National Pan-Hellenic Council and past Chair of the African American Commencement Committee of San Jose State University. She holds a degree in Accounting from San Jose State University. Gale Simmons - Ms. Simmons was elected as the Secretary of the Board of Directors of the Agency. Gale Simmons has been an AACSA board member since June 2000. She is a Social Worker and Team Facilitator for the County of Santa Clara Social Service Agency. Ms. Simmons is an appointed member of the Santa Clara County Child Abuse Council and a member of the Black Social Workers. Ms. Simmons has a BA degree from UC Berkeley in Sociology and Political Science and a Masters of Social Work degree from San Jose State University. The balance of the Board includes: Joanna Farris - Ms. Farris is the past President of the Board of Directors and is an Assistant Vice President at Bank of the West. Joanna has been a longstanding member of Board of Directors since 1992. Since serving on the Board of Directors, Joanna has been responsible for various building improvements and managed the operations of the Agency. She has worked with the State of California Sickle Cell program, the State of California's Negro College Fund, and she served as the Former Santa Clara County Equal Opportunity Commissioner. Evelyn Delgado - Ms. Delgado is retired from 24 years working in the telecommunications industry and now works as a freelance artist specializing in Pastels. During her career, her focus has been researching and resolving both internal and external customer problems and acting as a liaison to various departments to work toward problem resolution. Ms. Delgado has taught English as a Second Language in Adult Education in Santa Clara County. She holds a degree in Journalism from San Jose State University. Milan Balinton - Mr. Balinton is a fulltime student at San Jose State University majoring in Communications with a minor in Business. He is active in his Fraternity and is the Past Polemarch of the Delta Rho Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity. Inc.,. He sits on the Executive Board as a Member of National Pan-Hellenic Council and is a Black Student Union member. In addition to being a Board Member for the Agency, Mr. Balinton is also the Co-Chairman of the Youth and Young Adult Outreach and Personnel Committees. Walter Wilson - Mr. Wilson is President of African-American.com, a national resource, advocacy and e-magazine for the African-American community and also a Computer Networking and Security Consultant for Computer Services Group. He has been active with the Silicon Valley Chapter of the NAACP as past 1st Vice President as well as a longstanding community advocate working with various organizations. Mr. Wilson has been active in the community for more than 25 years.
