A native Californian, Cathy Blake grew up in Vallejo, California and is now a part of the African American Community Service Agency, a partner to FIRST 5 of Santa Clara County. Cathy is the FIRST 5 Family Resource Center (FRC) Program Specialist & Coordinator and works to bridge services that provide families with children 0 to 5 years old with available resources and programs to assist in their educational and developmental well-being. The FRC also provides other services such as parenting classes, programs to encourage reading and literacy, and connects families to resources that help families with basic needs.
Cathy is a graduate of San Jose State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Relations. She comes to us from Maranatha Christian Center Re-entry Program, which is a resource center assisting those recently released from incarceration with services needed to become reacclimated into the community and to reconnect with family. Prior to Maranatha, Cathy was employed at one of the top Fortune 50 High-Tech companies of Silicon Valley.
She is a proud member of Eta Phi Beta Business and Professional Women’s Sorority, Inc., and one of her mottos to live by is, “It’s always darkest right before the dawn”.
